After she relocated to Rapid City in 2017 to live near her daughter, she was a resident at Fountain Springs Senior Apartments. She loved playing bingo and trying out new recipes on her neighbors. She didn’t let apartment living stand in the way of planting containers of flowers and vegetables each summer that graced the entrance and patio area. Jacque and Ray loved living near the Missouri River at Riverside Acres, boating, following their kids’ activities and spending time outdoors. Ray passed away on May 9, 1995, just months before they were to move into their home in Mission, TX.
Also holding a special place in Jerry’s heart were AnnieKate and Jake Burghduff. Val spent his days on the farm after graduating from St Mary’s in Dell Rapids and then Dakota State in Madison. Before he even saw it, God’s grace was apparent in his life. On Sept. 10, 1977, he married Teresa Molskness, and they recently celebrated their 45th anniversary.

His memory was sharp and he could remember details that the rest of us couldn’t. The three places he wanted to be were church, home and school. This filled his life with a completeness that gave him comfort. In the last year, our row has been quite empty or with only part of us there. In these times we would do “home church.” We had some of the best sharing times during our home church.
Marvelle was a Christian and loved Jesus our Lord and Savior. She would watch the daystar channel and donated to the less fortunate. She had a good heart and enjoyed to have met her grandchildren and her younger children.

Mrs. Reece was born July 1, 1963, in Summerville, GA, daughter of the late James Robert and Charlotte Ann Goodson Wood. She was a homemaker and was previously employed with Roper Corporation. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Reece was preceded in death by her aunts, Pauline Aquilla Wood and Norma Jean Bynum; and an uncle, William Clayton Wood.

She was so thankful that she was able to help her children and make the memories that she did. Marvelle will be missed and will not be forgotten. Marvelle had her daughter Monique Lynn Crowe and her sons Austin James Crowe and Adam David Torres. She loved her kids with a passion of unconditional love. She would go off and leave Winner to explore the United States.
He was preceded in death by maternal great grandparents, Roy and Ruby Stevicks; William and Gertrude Horstman. Paternal great grandparents, Clarence and Frieda Heath; Gus and Orene Weidner. In 2015, we enjoyed a Make a Wish trip to Rapid for the Stock Show. In 2015, we went to see Willie Robertson in Louisiana, then enjoyed Silver Dollar City at Branson, MO. He always wanted to go back to Branson. Both sides of his family enjoyed the Louisiana trip. In 2018, his burn doctor gifted him seats to a Minnesota Wild Hockey game.
Mrs. Effie Davenport Hayes age 96 of Summerville, GA passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at her residence. Mrs. Hayes was born July 14, 1926 in Blue Ridge, GA to the late Samuel and Rosa Davenport. She was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills and was a founding member of Solid Rock Baptist Church.

David was born on Aug. 18, 1951 to Clair and Shirley Turgeon. Dave attended school in Burke, SD and graduated from BHS in 1969. She was also active in breast cancer patient care. She spent many days driving people to post surgery treatment and helping people dealing with the rigors of this disease. Mom also volunteered regularly at the thrift store downtown. Our mother never missed the chance to help someone with a willing smile, a listening ear, or much more. Mr. Johnny Ray Rouse age 49 of Centre, AL passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at a local hospital. Mr. Rouse was born May 7, 1973 in Fort Campbell, KY to the late John and Carol Rouse.

In May of 1957, Carroll wanted to move back to farm with his dad, so he and Janet headed back to South Dakota. One year to the day after getting engaged, they broke off their engagement. Over the next seven years, their paths crossed about once a year. Funeral services were held at Aspen Mortuary in Arvada, Colo., on Nov. 3, followed by graveside services at the Arvada Cemetery. After her retirement, Dorothy enjoyed helping Sam with his antique and collectibles business. Dorothy also loved harvesting and cooking delicious homegrown fruits and vegetables from her and Sam’s family garden.
